SEDOM Prom 2010

The Crystal Lake Jaycees will be hosting a "Italian Restaurant" themed prom for the Special Education District of McHenry County (SEDOM) students and alumni. For the past eleven years, the Crystal Lake Jaycees have been hosting this event.  This Spring project is not only a cornerstone project of the Crystal Lake Jaycees, but it also is an example of what it means to be a Jaycee "..And that service to humanity is the best work of life."

The Crystal Lake Jaycees in conjunction with many fine volunteers and sponsors will be transforming the St. Thomas the Apostle's Community Center into a restaurant from the streets of Sicily.   From the Italian flags, twinkling lights, butcher block paper with crayons to draw and wine bottles adorning the room to the fine Italian fare of pizza, pasta, salad and bread sticks, our Prom guests will be transported to Italy and be treated with the utmost attention by the smartly dressed waitstaff.

The Prom will kick off at 6:30 PM with professional photos in the lobby for our guests.   Dinner will be served promptly at 7:00 PM with the fun ending too soon for all at 9:30 PM.   This is truly a night to remember not only for our guests, but for volunteers and sponsors alike.

The Crystal Lake Jaycees are but one small piece of a greater puzzle that makes this evening happen.   The Jaycees would like to acknowledge the following volunteer groups, sponsors and business partners:

- St Thomas the Apostle Church Youth Ministry as our Italian Restaurant waitstaff
- Kevin Sarnwick, Sarnwick Photography for donating all the photos for the prom guests
- Rosati's Pizza / Papa Saverios for donating all the Italian fare (Pizza, Pasta, Breadsticks and Salad)
- Bob Kramer, "What about Bob?" our Master of Ceremonies and D.J. for the evening
- Barb, B.J. Cola Co. for donating the Italian decor used to transform the Community Center
- St. Thomas the Apostle Church Community Center our fine location

The Crystal Lake Jaycees are honored to be part of this special event this year and are looking forward to provide this event to the SEDOM team for the next eleven years and beyond!
